- What's the difference between bioidentical HRT and traditional HRT?
- Bioidentical hormones (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone) are molecularly identical to what your body produces. Traditional/synthetic versions (like Premarin or medroxyprogesterone) are close but not identical, and behave differently in the body. We exclusively use bioidentical formulations.
- How long until I feel a difference on HRT?
- Most patients notice meaningful changes — energy, sleep, mood, libido — within 2–4 weeks. We re-test labs at 8–12 weeks and adjust the protocol as needed.
- Is HRT safe? What about the cancer risk?
- The cancer concerns from the early-2000s WHI study were largely driven by synthetic progestins, not bioidentical hormones, and by initiating HRT decades after menopause. Modern evidence — including the 2023 TRAVERSE trial for testosterone — supports the cardiovascular safety of properly dosed, bioidentical HRT when started appropriately. We screen carefully and monitor every patient.
